May 8, 2001 was a very important date in my life.  After 24 years as a successful Life and Health Insurance professional, it had come to the point that to dramatically improve my current income and to also provide for a substantial retirement income, I needed to expand into Property and Casualty Insurance. For many years I had been trying to obtain a Property and Casualty appointment with a preferred insurance company without success. On May 8, 2001 I met a representative from Southern Insurance, one of the Donegal Insurance Group companies, who showed me the Career Builder Program. I knew right away that this could be the answer to my needs. 

I am now recognized in my community as an established force in the property and casualty insurance business and a good source for automobile, homeowner and business insurance.  I have also established a business that has expanded with the addition of other licensed agents and additional products for all my clients.

Donegal's Career Builder Program through Southern Insurance Company of Virginia has changed my life in many ways. The first 11 of those years I sold only life and health insurance and I was very successful doing that.

I have been in the insurance business for 11 years. The first six years, I was a captive agent with limited products and pricing options that I could offer my customers. As a captive Agent, I also would not own my business, something that had been my goal when I entered the insurance business.
